For this assignment, you have been charged with telling the truth in an imaginative way, creative rather than expository writing.
Working on such an assignment will help you understand the craft and structural concerns that writers have when trying "to tell the truth but tell it slant", to quote Emily Dickinson.
Please use this space to brainstorm and outline the ideas you have using SOAPD TV or at the very least, APE.
Feel free to ask questions about the assignment here, too.
I think I'm going to write some kind of poem trying to describe truth itself as well as the difficult situations it puts different people in. Sekhars situation is an example of a difficult situation that came about by telling the truth.
ReplyDeleteI am also going to write a poem describing the truth and the positive and negative affects that can come from it. Most people struggle from telling the truth daily and are put in awkward positions from telling the truth/lies.
ReplyDeleteI will probably write a short story about the dangers of telling the truth.
ReplyDeleteGreat Ideas--I am so looking forward to reading your creative work...as we read the models in this unit, take notes as an author, considering what you can use and what you won't...you'll be surprised by your options.
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to write a, or a couple, poem(s) on truth. Describing the causes and affects of truth and telling the truth, also how it makes people feel and change because they know they the truth.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to write a short story about a teenager who has to tell the truth. It will show how hard it can be to tell the truth but how much better you feel after.
ReplyDeleteI think i'm going to write a poem on the similarities and differences in telling and receiving the truth in a creative way. I'm thinking of changing the subject in each stanza and how they contradict eachother and compare.
ReplyDeleteI am going to compose a poem or two on how telling the truth can effect the outcome of things in the future and the role the truth plays in ones life.
ReplyDeleteI am going to write a news article about the truth and how it has evolved over the past few years and how public every thruth has seemed to become in the meidia. I will talk about how it has effected our world today and how it compares to the past.
ReplyDeleteI am going to write a poem about truth and how it plays into who you are and how it effects your character. Also how you change over time because of not telling the truth.
ReplyDeleteI continue to be impressed with your choices and the variations of both text and theme you are choosing.
ReplyDeleteAs you begin to read THE HELP, keep track of the various truth issues as well as the various writing issues.
We used to say the pen is mightier than the sword, and in THE HELP, it is the typewriter...now it is the keyboard and maybe the phone--even so, these are just tools...what is mightiest is the mind that puts the words out there for us to consider...
I salute you!
I am going to write a short story about how difficult it is to tell the truth when you are a police officer and you are sent to tell a family that one of their family members has recently been in an accident.
ReplyDeleteLike Ryan, I think I will write a short story about how difficult it is for doctors to tell someone if they have a bad illness, such as cancer. It may be hard for them to tell the person, but they know the patient needs to know what is wrong and what options they have to choose from.
ReplyDeleteI am going to write a poem. It is going to be free verse. I want to talk about how telling the truth can be dangerous and the risk you take telling or asking for the truth.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to do an infographic on truth and how often people tell the truth/ why they lie.
