These soldiers are carrying an injured soldier and rushing him to a medical helicopter. They are carrying their heavy gear around their waists of course, but also the have the mental baggage of being in the heat of the war, worrying about this man's life on top of their own.
This picture is sad because it shows a group of people working together to help someone in need. It is hard to see someone hurt and suffering.
