A New Arrival

This young soldier looks like he has just arrived in Vietnam. His uniform is crisp and clean, his backpack looks full but bearable. He is leaning on his gun, at rest.His expression is serious, but not afraid. He looks determined. I imagine that deep inside, he is carrying his fears, his hopes, his dreams. I think he is trying to look older than he is, but it seems like he is too young to be here, like he doesn't even have to shave. I wonder if he was drafted or if he volunteered.
