Your reaction to Team Testing?

I had an idea this weekend that I would like to provide as an option on future Open Response tests:
The Team Test!

My idea?
Anyone who wants to take the test as a four person team would sign up.
Then on the day of the open response test, the team would sit at a table together.
They could huddle for 5 minutes to divide the questions.
The total points would be based on an addition of the points earned by the team.
The entire team would share the same score.
What do you think?
I am open to any variations on this idea.

Also, do you know what pod-casts are? I thought about you being able to record a spoken response to test questions, but I am curious as to where you are with the technology. I know of a way where you could speak your answers into your phone... Are you up for that?

  1. I actually like that idea more than just taking the test individually. Then if one isn't sure about a question someone else can just do that question and you can get a better score.
I have no idea what pod-casts are. I have never heard of them before. But I guess I'm willing to try something new.

  2. I think that team tests would be better than individual tests. This way we can learn things we're unsure of by our peers.
I've heard of pod-casts before, but I am a bit technology-challenged.. I've had my blackberry for a year and I still don't know how to use it correctly.. But, if you taught us how to do these things, I'd be up for trying it.

  3. I think that taking the test in a group would be a good idea because like Kelly said, there are certain questions that some people know better than others. In the end we would all benefit because we could have potential to get a higher grade rather than taking the test individually where we could get stuck on one of the open responses.

  4. I like the team method, but I think I would like it a bit better if we could talk for the entire duration of the class rather than the first five minutes. That way if someone is still stuck on a question or misunderstands it, it would not hurt the entire team. I do know what podcasts are and I would be up for trying them out.

  5. I like the idea of a group test. I think working with our classmates will help us guide each other and receive a higher grade. I'm not sure what pod-casts are, but I would be willing to try using it.

  6. I think the team test would be an okay idea, but I don't really care one way or another. I do know what podcasts are, but I don't think I would be ale to speak directly into my phone because I don not have a smart phone.

  7. I like the idea of taking a test as a team as well because of the same reason kelly and mikayla. I don't really know what podcasts are and I don't have a smartphone so I can't take part in speaking into my phone.

  8. I like the idea of the team testing because it could help you understand something better if you heard someone else's point of view on it and bounce ideas off of each other. I have an idea what podcasts are but not really sure, but I wouldn't be able to speak into my phone because my phone doesn't have that ability.

  9. The phone component can be done from a regular land-line, believe it or not, so as long as you have a phone at home, you are in!
    I have two books:
Toys to Tools: Connecting Student Cell Phones to education
    and
Teaching with Tools Kids really Use:Learning with Web and Mobile Technology.

    These are the programs mentioned:
Gcast, Youmail,Jott, FreeCOnference Pro, and Gabcast

  10. I think that team testing would be really interesting. I would like to do it, but the down side is that what if one of your team mates lets you down? If they don't know the answer and you did then you would kind of get ripped off. But if it was the other way around, they would be like a "life line" so it would be good to learn from your peers.

I also think that it would be cool to do the phone answer thing, it would be a good learning experience.

  13. I think the group test is a great idea. I'm not sure if having it as one grade is a good idea though. That way if one person doesn't pull their weight the rest of the group doesn't suffer.
