I was sort of shocked when I first started reading Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. I wasn't expecting a story like that at all, and I was gripped by the first page and the thought of something that restricts people's thoughts. I liked it because it was very original and really made you think about things like equality, and whether or not we could go too far with it. I wish it was a full novel with a longer story so I could keep reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed Harrison Bergeron because it had me thinking "What if this really happened?". The ending was very unexpected and left the story off with a kind of feeling of hopelessness and had you thinking. I would definitely give it a 100%.
I found Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut interesting. The story was very original. I had never read anything like it. The part I liked most about the story was when Harrison stood up against what he thought was wrong, which happened to be the government. Harrison being killed was a twist that I did not see coming, and I thought it was strange how after it happened, nobody even remembered it happening. It makes you think about what is more worth it: equality or individuality.
I found that the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was a little odd but very entertaining. If this were a full story I would definetly read the whole book. I liked how original it was. I thought it was a good plot and it really makes you think how boring the world would be if we didn't all have something we are especially good at.
I think Harrison Bergeron was a very interesting. The story made you think how far we would go to make sure everyone is equal. I liked the ending when the Hanicapper General interupted Harrison Bergeron and shot him out of the air. It was a surprising ending.
Overall, the story was really interesting and it never got boring for me which is an automatic plus. I also thought it was really weird and that some of the things that they made people do and wear was awful, it was almost like torture. I don't think yo should punish someone just because they have a different talent or look. Today, people are unique and have different abilities and that is what makes life interesting.
I surprisingly liked Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut JR. When I first heard that we were reading from our text books I thought, "Wow can't wait to read another boring short story for the millionth time." In the end though, this short story really made me think. The setting of the story is 2081. I don't know if anyone else thought this, but some of us still may be alive then. We would be 85 or 86, depending on how old you are now, but that to me is scary to think about. The government taking over completely and not letting anyone be an individual. If that ever happened I would be devastated, I like who I am. It's me and I don't want to be like everybody else on this Earth. If I was George from the short story, I would be angry. Every time you think about the way something is there is a sharp noise to make you forget about what you are thinking. First of all who thinks about that? "Oh hey let's have people stop competing and make everyone the same." Yes, I get that we, the human race, compete way too much with each other and want to be treated equally but who ever came up with the idea to make us all equal went way too far with it. In the end though, I liked this book and would like to read the whole book.
I personally really enjoyed reading the story by Kurt Vonnegut. At first I was thinking to myself, "What was going through this guys head when he was writing it?!" but by the end, i decided i really liked it. It was different which caught my attention. I never got bored while reading it because it was so odd. Maybe that's why i enjoyed it so much.
The short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, I thought was suprising. I never read anything before like this before. To think that at some point in the world people wouldn't be excepted for who the are and have to be dumbed down from being intelligent seemed almost scary. But, when I was reading the story i didn't know what to expect in the end which made me want to read it more. When I got to the end I was shocked at what happened to Harrison. Overall in the end, I liked the story.
The short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was an interesting read, to say the least. His opinion of the future is very different to what i was hoping for but some times others opinions can make you think twice. Vonnegut displayed an interesting way of how society would work out in the future by making everyone equal in every aspect of life to have no problems. I don't agree with that idea but i liked how he made his readers consider.
The short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was unlike any short story I have ever read. It seemed almost scary to think this could happen in the future. When I began reading the story I was interested right away. I liked that the story had to do with equality and included Vonnegut's thoughts about the future and what may occur. By the end of the story I was sad to read about what happened to Harrison, but I did truly enjoy reading it and it had my attention from beginning to end.
I thought the short story was very interesting and thought provoking. It was unlike anything I read before. Going into it I had no idea what to expect, so that had me hooked the whole way and I was pleasantly surprised. The idea of the government actually doing that and that's how society could be is kind of disturbing and scary. I also liked how the story had a meaning to it and a lesson, and how Vonnegut didn't tell it out right out in the open, he kind of skewed it. I liked how it got you thinking and it was also just very enjoyable.
It was very interesting to see the future society through the eyes of Kurt Vonnegut. Although it is not pleasing and the future that most would hope for, it was very interesting to see Vonnegut's ideas shown through a story. The short story got me thinking about all of the possibilities that the future holds. Throughout reading the short story I was very pleased and did not find myself loosing interest at any point. I also like how Vonnegut included the ideas of everyone being equal and the things that the government would do to make it happen. Over all the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was very interesting and enjoyable.
I thought that this story was very interesting because it shows us waht the future could end up being like. I did like how they showed that everybody would be the same and that no one person could be smarter, faster, stronger, better looking, and so on. A great example was when a person who thought above average would have a noise played every 20 seconds so that they couldnt think ahead of anyone. Throughout the whole story i was always being into the reading and enjoying it, what i didnt like and understand was why some people had to wear weights around their necks? thats the only part i didnt like. Overall i did enjoy this short story very much
Over all i enjoyed this story. It was so intresting to read what this authors idea of the future is. It's so imaginative and yet scary to think that someone would have this idea. And if someone has the idea, it just might happen someday. I would never want to be handicaped for being blessed with good genes or brains like the people in this story are. If this is what the world is going to turn out to be becasue of the governemnt taking too many libertys away from us, that's a scary future we are looking at even if it is 70 years away. But my question is how Harrison can be so tall and stong when it says he is only 14 years old. What 14 year old thinks about overthrowing the government, let alone acctually try to?
This story was so interesting and not what I expected. I liked it because it shows how different one can view the future. This idea is not something you hear every day, and not what we're used to. In our time now, people enjoy when others think above average, and they are looked upon as people who inspire us. It makes me think about what would happen if this was our everyday lives. It's sad to think of how horrible having a handicap could be years ahead. It boggles my mind how Harrison has such big ideas at his age. I'd like to read more from Vonnegut.
Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was a entertaining story of a more serious topic. Overall, I liked it because Kurt Vonnegut presented his views about government and society through the story in a way that kept me engaged, and wanting to read more. The ideas it presented are also ones that one day could become reality, which is why I found the story so interesting. It also reminds me of ideas/events such as the rise communism which have already come and gone. The story showed an abstract idea in an entertaining way, and by doing so allowed me to enjoy reading it.
The story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut was not only intriguing, but left the reader curious and questioning if something like this could really occur. I enjoyed reading Harrison Bergeron because Vonnegut took his real opinions of government matters and transformed them into a short story. I also liked the overall moral or message of the story and that was that no one can change who or what someone is. I give Harrison Bergeron a thumbs up.
