The subject of my book is about a famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky and what his life was like when he was young and coming into stardom. The book is an autobiography so he decided to write about his own life and expiernces. He is addressing anybody who is liking to learn more about him, hockey, or just a famous hockey player. The purpose of the book is to tell all about his life and his different accomplishments and the hardships he has gone through. The evidence that he provides is the statistics that he has had ever since he was 6 years old when he first joined a hockey league. It is an autobiography written by Wayne Gretzky. He is using a more familiar voice because he is using some hockey terms that are usually said and not being very formal but in a good way
ReplyDeleteMy book, "Between Hope and History" by Bill Clinton the former President offers his vision for America in the coming future. The occasion that prompted him to write it was probably when he left office he wanted to leave the American people, who are his audience, a set of expectations for America. His purpose seems to be to inspire American citizens to come together as a nation to achieve success. The author's voice seems to be familiar, as if he is a parent offering advice to their kid before they go off into the world where America is the kid and President Clinton is giving us advice.

ReplyDeleteO- There was no real defining moment, but he figured that he was getting older so it was time to write a book about his life
A- He is mainly addressing his fans from his gold career
P- He hopes to teach people about his golfing and how hard work can pay off.
E- He tells his life stories and the hardships he had to go through and how he had to work hard to get where he is.
T- It is a autobiography.
V- It is sort of informal writing because it is the type of language you would use if you are just talking to someone, and while you are reading it you can hear his voice like he is talking directly to you.

ReplyDeleteO = The author, Michael Holley, decided to chronicle Belichick's "legacy" because he is a Boston Sports Fan who writes for the New York Times, and previously wrote for the Boston Globe over a ten year period.
A = The audience of the story are football fans, specifically those fond of Belichick and the New England Patriots organization.
P = Michael Holley wants to honor Belichick's accomplishments through writing the story.
E = ...
T = The story is written from the third person point of view, obviously not omnicient because it is non-fiction.
V = The author uses a semi-formal vocie in writing the story.
S - The subject of the book im reading "Jesse" is a memior written by the mother of a boy with severe cerebral palsy telling their journey together.
ReplyDeleteO- What prompted this mother to write a book is to tell her son's story and the transformation of their family.
A- The author is addressing her son after he passed, the doctor and nurses that took are of him, and anyone who wants to hear their story.
P- I think that she is writing to life some weight of her chest after Jesse passed away. Also to commemerate her son.
E- I haven't got that far in to the book but she has already talked about when she was pregnant and how she wanted to keep you safe the whole entire time and it shows that she wanted nothing but the best for her child and she wants to tell Jesse that.
T- This text is a memior.
V- Her voice is familar, she puts everything the way it would be said if we were sitting here having a conversation. You can tell when she is happy, sad and angry.

P- The purpose the author is hoping to achieve while writing is to show how people at the weakest of times can find something to make them happy and pull through all struggles.

ReplyDeleteO- Rebecca Skloot had a picture of Henrietta hanging up in her room and she just wanted to get to know more about her and wants more people to know who Henrietta was.
A- anyone interested in medicine and science.
P- To have Henrietta recognized and to let people know how her cells helped medicine.
E- Skloot did many interviews and went through articles and Deborah Lacks', Henrietta's daughter, journals.

V- it's informal at some parts because Sklootbwants people to know what things mean, but the rest is formal because it's made up of quotes.
