I am SO interested in your choices!
My search for non-fiction was rather easy. I just went straight to Target and looked in the nonfiction section. Most of the nonfiction books were about famous people, like Ellen Degeneres or Steve Harvey, and I wasn't interested in that. The book that I got is called, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot and I can not wait to start reading it.
ReplyDeleteWell my search started in your room and that is where I found a book, "Karen". It looked interesting and I started reading but to be honest it's kind of boring. I'd rather something about crime so I'm still looking because I settled for this book.
ReplyDeleteI started looking on-line for a book and I found one that I was really interested in but when I went to the public library they didn't have it so I settled on this book about Arnold Palmer. I knew right away that I wanted to get a book about golf, but I wasn't sure which one.
ReplyDeleteWhen I learned of us reading a nonfiction book I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to read. I also knew that my dad had the book I was looking for. So, that narrowed down my choices considerably. I chose a book that I really liked, I did not have to settle. I chose the book Drive, by Larry Bird and Bob Ryan.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was looking for a non-fiction book, I just searched my house. I knew I had a few biographys at my house. I did not have time to get to the library, so my choices were automatically narrowed. The biography I chose seems interesting and I am excited to read a first hand account.
ReplyDeleteMy search for a non-fiction book was also pretty simple. I just told my mom I needed one for school and she recommended "Half Broke Horses".
ReplyDeletemy stratigies was to first pick a topic that i waanted to read about and that was Marylin Monroe. Then, i went to the book websits that i knew of and that was amazon.com. i looked up Marylin and then picked one of the bios they had on her. I narrowed down my choices by first picking who i thought would be most intersting, then reading through the descriptions untill i found the bio i thought was going to be the best. I did get somthing that i hope i will really like and i dont really have any questions, although im sure i will when i start my reading.
ReplyDeleteI found my book in your room, the reason that I chose it was because I really like ancient history. I think that I got something that I will really like, and it should be interesting to see the connections between the ancient civilizations and the present day ones.
ReplyDeleteFor finding a book, I first thought of what interested me. I figured that I liked reading biographies, and that I would like to read one for this assignment. I looked around my house first for a book and founf The Diary of A Young Girl: Anne Frank. I did find other journals and diaries of soldiers that were made into books, but I decided on Anne Frank.

ReplyDeleteMy strategies for finding my book of non-fiction was to narrow my interests and types of genres i wanted to read. Then i chose the type of book from the narrowed genres, and chose to read a mystery/thriller. Then i looked up those typpes of books on amazon.com and found "The Devil In The White City" by Erik Larson. I located the book and went to Barnes and Nobles on Derby Street shops in Hingham. So far i read only the first page because i just got it, but i only wanted to peek before vacation was over, and i already like the first page so i have a good feeling about this book.
ReplyDeleteI got my book from the library. When I was looking I knew I wanted a memoir. The book I chose was something that sounded good to me but I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. My book is called "Are you somebody" by Nuala O'Faolain.
ReplyDeleteI already had the book "Scar Tissue" at my house. But, I might switch it out for a new book I haven't read before, if I can manage to find a good one.
ReplyDeleteMy older brother told me that his favorite book is "tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom and i figureed that this was my chance to read it because we are reading non fiction in class. But when i went into my brothers room to find the book it wasnt there, so i just went to the library on the second floor about 4 minutes ago and grabbed it. I hope this book is as good as he said it is.
ReplyDeleteMy search was very easy, in fact the third book I saw in the stack of books in the corner of the room caught my eye right away. It is called "In Between Hope and History" and the title immediately caught my attention, and then I noticed that it was written by Bill Clinton so I thought reading a book b ya President would be interesting. I decided that I would read it because I want to hear Mr. Clinton's view for America i nthe coming yars.
ReplyDeleteMy search for nonfiction was also relatively easy. I went to the nonfiction section of the school library and looked through the biographies. I chose an autobiography of someone with asperger's because one of the fiction books I read a while back was about someone with asperger's, and I though it would be interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started searching I really had no idea what I wanted to read. So to start I asked around to see what some people have read and what they liked. Some people mentioned music autobiographies or biographies, which then lead me on a search for artists I like. This eventually lead me to the biography "No One Here Gets Out Alive" which is a biography of Jim Morrison. So in the end I decided to read it since I am a fan of The Doors.
ReplyDeleteI knew my dad had a bunch of nonfiction books on a bookshelf in his room, mostly about war, which was the topic I was interested in, so I picked the book that looked the best based on the cover.
ReplyDeletethe strategies that i had was that i wanted to look for some even, sporting event in particular that has occured and i find interesting. i searched online for the town website. i narrowed down my search by finding this that have occured with local sports teams. i got something that i really do like and didnt have to settle for a boring book

ReplyDeleteMy search for a non-fiction book was easy. I chose "Jesse" which you showed us in class. I knew I wanted to read this right away because it is about a boy with severe cerebral palsy who is a quadriplegic and can not speak and my little cousin has the same condition so I think I will be able to connect to this book very well and maybe learn some things from it.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased with your selections--if you don't have what you really, really want to read--switch it up! Don't settle!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with range of your choices, your reasons and strategies. Happy reading!
I didnt have any strategies in searching for my non-fiction piece, although I knew what I was looking for. I found a book that fit what I wanted at my house and settled for that. I thought it would be an interesting book to read, so I ended my search. I dont have any questions.
ReplyDeleteMy strategies for finding a non fiction book was pretty simple, just look and skim through the books. I searched around the classroom and found one that interested me. I wanted to find something that had to do with sports or war from the beginning and i settled on a sports book about the redsox that i feel will interest me a lot.
