The DVD, “The Sound of Thunder,” had some
similarities, but also some differences to the book. In both, the DVD and the
book, you could tell that the safari leader, Travis, did not like Eckels, the
main character, from the first time they met. Travis was very curious and
strict about the rules of time travel, while Eckels did not find these rules to
be that important and was reasoning with Travis. You could also tell how scared
Eckels was of the dinosaur, in the DVD and the book. In the DVD, Eckels gave a
scared expression, while in the book the details helped me to picture how
scared he was. Another similarity is the setting of the story. While there were
similarities between the DVD and the book, there were also differences. By watching
the DVD, I noticed that some of the dialogue was different from the book. I
could also see how the other hunters acted by watching the DVD, while in the
book there was not enough details for me to determine how they would be acting.
Another difference was that the butterfly was orange in the DVD, but it was
green in the book.
