KWL: Arthur, Camelot, and Quests

Who is Arthur?
Where is Camelot?
What is a quest ?
Why are they importnat in literature (and, of course, life)?

In your comments:
  • What do you know about Arthurian legend and the code of chivalry?
  • What was the big quest of the Knights of Camelot?
  • In other words--what do you know and what do you want to learn?

  2. Rachel, Nichole, and I are all pretty much clueless. We know a quest is a journey that you embark on to get to a place or goal. Other than that we don't know much but it was probably very important.

  3. I don't know much about the Arthurian legend or the big quest of the Knights of Camelot. I know a quest is something that someone sets out to do or something to find. I would like to know all about it but as of right now the only thing I know about King Arthur comes from Monty Python.

  4. For our group to be completely honest we have no idea about Arthur, Camelot, and we know a little about a quest but not much about the Arthurian legend and the code of chivarly. We are not sure on the big quest o the knights of camelot.

  5. Me and my group, Lindsay, Shannon, don't know much about the Arthurian legend and the code of chivalry. We do know that it is mid evil times, and we think Arthur is the king. We would like to know more about the lady, we think her name is Gwen or something. We also think Camelot is in Europe. Again, we don't really know much but we want to learn.

  8. I do not know a whole lot about Arthurian legend, but I do know that Arthur was the king of Camelot, which wasn't real. Their main quest was to find a Holy Grail, and Arthur was chosen as king because he pulled Excalibur out of a rock. The code of chivalry was a code that knights took on, I know that today chivalry refers to people doing good deeds and helping one another, usually a man being nice to a woman.

  9. I've heard of Arthur before, but I honestly don't know anything about him. I guess I just want to know who he is.

  10. i share the same knowledge as brian, and that a quest is sort of like a journey to find a specific thing along the way.

  11. I know just about nothing Arthurian legend and the code of chivalry. I know just about nothing about the Knights of Camelot as well. I know that King Arthur pulled the sword from the stone that nobody else could. I would like to learn about that time period in general.

  12. (Ryan Vin Joe): By putting our heads together we came up with the following things: The Arthurian legend was when king Arthur was crowned the king of Camelot. Also Arthur had a round table which were his closest group of knights, and they were possibly going to go on a quest to find the holy grail. Chivalry was basically loyalty to the crown, courage, bravery, defending the weak, and serving your master. Our group wants to learn about that time in general, like the architecture and how chivalry plays a part in the time, and also how it can connect to how we act and how we should act today. We would also like to know for sure what the quest was that the 'Knights of Camelot' went on, and why. Also we would like to know if this story connects to the crusades in Europe that we learned about last year.
