I think Walker's choices in diction and conflict really helped me appreciate her writing the most because the conflict in the story "Everyday Use" went into detail enough so that the reader could enjoy it, but not too much detail that the reader got bored. I thought she did a very good job. I could use her diction and vocabulary that she used in her poems to go more in depth with my work and put more detail into the work itself. It could help my audience follow my train of thought better.
ReplyDeleteI think Walkers diction was very good and it helped me like her writing more. Since it was so descriptive i found it was easier to visualize the characters. By doing that with my writing it could help people reading it understand it more and maybe even connect to it better too.
ReplyDeleteI think the Walker's use of diction and vocabulary in her work make me appreciate it more because the details in the characters are just right. She tells a lot about them, enough to get a really clear understanding of who they are, but not too much that it seems like she is rambling and not really getting anywhere with it. I can use this in my own writing to help the reader understand more and connect to it better and maybe get a clearer understanding of the meaning behind my own work rather than take it at face value.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else here on the blog. Walker's diction helped oneness understand the stories and poem more because it helped define what they were all about and what to picture. It will help me for my poem by being more descriptive so readers can understand what the poem is about and what to picture as they read.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else. Alice Walker's features like description help me appriciate her writing. She makes it seem like I know the characters and could pick them out of a crowd because she descirbes them so well. This could help my writing more vivid and stronger.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I also agree that Alice Walker's choices as a writer really help me to appreciate her work. Her word choice and the way she describes characters and scenes helps me to visualize, which makes it easier for me to read and understand.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else as well. I like how Alice Walker writes and her descriptions of characters help me understand and visualize the characters as they are involved in the story. Her writing skills help me as a writer because she influences me to be more descriptive and help my audience understand the story more as well as bring my story, characters, and settings to life.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with everyone else. Alice Walker seems to write with a real purpose. There seemed to always be a reason for everything that each character did and said, which helped lead to their overall development.Overall the story "Everyday USe" was easy to understand and also showed what the author thought about certain things. I could really understand the authors point about old things and everyday use. It was plain that she thought that things like the quilts should really be used, becauase that is what they were for.
