As a group, respond to today's 3-2-1 exercise here:
3: Mistakes that humans have made over history that we should not repeat.
2: The two best qualities that will preserve civilization and promote peace.
1: Forster's best evidence for tolerance/why (pp.679-681).
(make sure to list all members of the group who participate)
Enjoy your half day!
3)Three mistakes we have made that we cannot repeat are The Holocaust, bombing of Hiroshima, and slavery.
ReplyDelete2)The two best qualities that will preserve civilization and promote peace are communication and tolerance.
1)Forster's best evidence for tolerance is when he says "It carries on when love gives out, and love generally gives out as soon as we move away from our home and our friends and stand among strangers in a queue for potatoes." He means that tolerance is more appropriate than love when you are with strangers because if we try to love everyone, it will be difficult especially if we don't know them. Tolerance is more acceptable.
3)Pearl Harbor, 9/11, Columbine
ReplyDelete2)Tolerance and communication
1)"If you don't like people, put up with them as well as you can."
1) Three mistakes that hunmans have made over history and should not make again were the Holocaust, 9/11, and slavery.
ReplyDelete2) The two best qualities that will preserve civilization and promote peace are tolerance and honesty.
3) Forster's best evidence for tolerance is on page 680 where he says that instead of just killing the people you don't like, you should just put up with them. We chose this because it's true and people kill other people for stupid reasons and it's unnecessary, the world would be a better place if people didn't murder people.

Peace
1. Foster's best evidence is that "yet this is the quality which is needed most after war." he also says that you can either have tolerance towards people of different race or nazis or you can tolerate them.
3: One mistake we should not make in general is starting or joining war, as we saw the horrors of WWII and do not want to repeat that. Also, we have to avoid discrimination, which the Nazis took to an extreme in the Holocaust. Also, not to exploit and take over weaker peoples, like Americans in the past did and took people from Africa for slavery.
ReplyDelete2: The two best qualities we need to preserve civilization are tolerance, like Forster explained, and responsibility, like if you're a bigger nation, to take for your actions.
1: Pg 681, "Don't try to love them: you can't; you'll only strain yourself. But try to tolerate them. On the basis of tolerance..."

ReplyDelete3) The three events in history that we think should never be repeated are The Holocaust, slavery and discrimination, and terrorism. We think that these events were very unnecessary and inhuman. No good came out of these events and many people lost their lives for no good reason.
2) The two best qualities that will preserve civilization and promote peace would be tolerance and responsibility. We chose tolerance because everyone needs to be able to tolerate another because you cannot always get what you want and it is okay to disagree. Acceptance is not always necessary but tolerance is. Responsibility was chosen because everyone has to take responsibility for their own words and actions.
1) Forster's best evidence for tolerance is "If you don;t like people, put up with them as well as you can." We chose this quote because we found it to be 100% true.
