In your comments, please share your opinion/experience of class procedures related to:
- Blogs
- Net Book (if you are using them)
- Teacher Websites
- Websites listed on the Blog and/or Teacher Websites
This is a place to brainstorm, share group work, pose questions, comment before/during/after discussions, post drafts--and anything else we decide to blog about on our education odyssey.
I personally like the blog because it's an easy way to see if we have homework or not. Also to see if your classmates agree with you on a certain topic. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes it doesn't load so it makes it harder to do the homework assignment without knowing what question to answer and what points to hit when answering it. Then with email and teacher websites it also helps when you are absent. This is because one could email the teacher asking what they missed and if there was a worksheet that was passed out there could be a link on the teacher's website. This makes it easier for the student to obtain it and stay on task with the rest of the class. In the end, going paperless does make things easier, but there are flaws. One of them is if the power goes out, there's no way for people to go online and see what the homework is. unless they have internet on their phone, but some people don't.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelly and Sam that we should go paperless. I think it is a great idea because with the technology that we have including the net books we should be using them to their fullest and also it is good for the enviornmen. I also enjoy the blog a lot because all you have to do is come on to see what you assignment was, see what other people have written to give you a good idea of what you should be doing, then able to do it their, no worrying of if there was an assignment of if i did it right. I don't believe we should go completly paperless because we need to write for practice for such things like MCAS and poetry and what not.
ReplyDeleteI think that using the class blog helps quite a bit. If I forget the homework, or need some extra help, I can alwways respond to a post on the blog. Not only will Dr. G help me, but my classmates can help me as well. Going paperless is also helping the enviornment. Being able to e-mail Dr. G, I can get a lot more help if I need it. Dr. G can always put helpful websites and things we need to know on the website. Sometimes when I am at home, I forget how to do something and if I do, I can always ask Dr. G via e-mail, check out her posts on the blog, or go to her helpful websites.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. I think we should go paperless. We would be taking advantage of the technology that we have and would be saving the trees. The setup of the blog, I believe, is a better way to submit homework than through paper. Some things should be written out on paper, but the idea of using computers and submit them through the internet is easier and quicker than writing out and passing papers in.
ReplyDeleteI love having the blog because I have it on my phone as an app now and I love being able to do it on the go. Also it's helpful to be able to read everyone elses responce to help your responce and to compare and contrast your thoughts. I also like having the net books in class because what is better then being able to go on the web and have tons and tons of resources right on your desk. I think going paperless is the right way to go!
ReplyDeleteI also agree that going paperless is a good idea. It saves on paper and it is much faster to get homework and class work done. It is also a good way to stay organized, so you will not loose papers and such. I think the netbooks are an okay idea, but there seem to be some problems, and sometimes they can run slow, especially using Google Docs. Emailing our papers is also something that I like because you never have to print anything, which saves money on ink and paper. Also the features on Word Review are helpful because it allows you to have more than one person peer edit your paper at a time.

ReplyDeleteI also love the idea of going paperless. By using the blog, students can see homework, ask questions and communicate with peers. By doing our homework online, we are saving a whole lot of paper. The blog and our e-mails are benefiting us and our enviornment. It's easy to get used to and easy to use. I believe that all classes should have a blog for these reasons. You can locate links and other websites easily from the blog, which is another reason why I love it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the blog because it is an easy way to check and see if we have homework. It doesn't take much time to go on the computer and check the blog and write your response. It is also good because there is no way of forgetting our homework at home or in our locker because it is passed in right away over the internet. I like how if I am having trouble thinking of something my classmates responses help. I think going paperless is a good idea because it is easy as well as good for the environment. The only problem like Sam and Kelly said is that if the internet is down or someone does not have a computer avalable they cannot get onto the blog. I love having the netbooks in class becasue like Shannon said everything is right infront of you and we can look up anything whenever we want.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of going paperless because it's different than any other class. We have so many more resources available to us through the internet, as opposed to just a regular textbook. Having netbooks in class gives us the accessability to several various learning tools, while also helping the environment. I also like not only having netbooks, but having a blog specifically for our class. Like Christine said, I can check the homework if I forgot and it helps a lot to be able to see what other classmates posted if I'm stuck. Being able to see what other people wrote also enables me to think differently or see something in other ways that I wouldn't have necessarily thought of before. It's helpful that we can access the blog from anywhere, so wherever you are, you can get a head start on your homework. I like this because sometimes if we have a worksheet or something, I tend to forget it at school and can't do my homework. But with the blog, I can always get my English homework done. Even if I forget my book, the online links on the blog make it so I can access the book on the internet, and I also don't have to carry another book home. Other resources and teacher links let me get more information on something and further my knowledge on a specific topic or story. I find myself doing better in English this year than last year, and I think I can attribute this to going paperless and having a classroom blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of having everything paperless, its much easier to deal with, more technological for the time period which is good, and it is easy access to almost everyone including myself. Netbooks is a unique way to present class and to help us become more use to technology. This way of presntin homework and/or classwork makes class and homework something to look forwrd to and actually be fun at times. Also having a class blog is ridiculously helpful when it comes to discussions, problems, questions, and even more knowledge about any topics at all. English this year as a sophomore as apposed to freshman English is quite different in a good way
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of going paperless and the blog is definitely a big help. I agree with what everyone else has said about the blog being an easy way to do homework. Unlike other homework that requires us to bring our giant books home, we have the internet and the blog to help us do the assignment. Whenever I don't understand something that happened in the story my classmates' responses always guide me and help me grasp the idea. I love using the netbooks during class because they're so reliable and help us follow along with the lesson.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of going paperless. I like how we use the netbooks and teacher websites, and I especially like the blog. The blog is easy and useful. If you were out one day, you could just check the blog and you would be all caught up and would have no problem following along in class the next day. It is so easy to do homework on the blog, you just check to see it, read other peoples comments to get your own ideas started, and you can refer to other people. It's almost like a class discussion but online and for homework. But going paperless could cause some problems too. If the power goes out or if someone's computer crashes, they can't do the assignment. But other than that, I really like the idea of going paperless.
ReplyDeleteI believe going paperless is a great idea. Its good for the enviornment and so much easier to acsess everything needed for homework and assessments and such. The blog is an easy way to communicate with everyone and discuss thoughts on everything and answer questions that need to be answered while at home. Email is great, its a lot easier then carrying papers around that could get lost or crushed in cluttered folders or backpacks. The Net Book is the only thing that i think is a wrinkle in the paperless idea. They are very useful and great tools, but become slow if many people try to acsess the same network or the internet at the same time. Other then the Net Books being slow, i love the idea of being paperless.
ReplyDeletei like being paperless. it's a lot easier writing our homework on the blog so you dont have to worry about forgeting a worksheet.even if you forget what the homework was you can just check the blog to see what the questions were. it's a more convienent way of doing your work. the netbooks are good too because the internet is a big part of everyones life and helps with going paperless. by using the internet if you didnt understand something you read that night you can read what other people wrote and it might help you understand it better. like a lot of people have already said, the only downfall is if the internet was down that night then you wouldn't be able to do your homework.
ReplyDeleteI absolutly love going paperless. Not only does it create less weight in my back pack for me to carry around, but also less clutter;that keeps me more organized and on track. I like how we get to learn how to master tecnologie skills while we are learning conventional english. i think it keeps my intrest and its more easily excessable. I dont think that the teacher sites on the Abington website help me at all becasue i would never go on there to check anything its just too hard toget to.But a blog is easily navagated and easy to respond to. I also like how you ge to see other students opinions that differ from yours. It really opens your mind to other ways to think othan just yours. I hate how most teachers hate tecnologie just becasue they dont know how to use it. It could be such a helpfull tool in the learning process to them that they just arent wanting to try something new and different. The world is changing around us, so the schools should change accordingly.
ReplyDeleteI think going paperless in this day and age is very important. It helps cut down on paper consumption of course saving money and trees, and I think using blogs and emails to submit work and interact with classmates and teachers is easier, and more fun. It's cool to have our own netbooks and be able to check informtaive sites on the internet.
ReplyDeleteI think going paperless is a great idea. It makes everything so much easier and faster. Technology is taking over our lives so we might as well just take advantage of it. Not only can we use the computers, we can use our phones to access these websites.
ReplyDeleteBecoming paperless not only helps the environment, but also encourages me to do my homework when already on the internet. Being able to access the blog via cell phone is also a great addition to the paperless effort. The only downfall is if the .network is down then our homework cannot be completed. Blogging is the beginning of a new style of teaching
ReplyDeleteI like going paperless. Its easier to remember to do your homework when all you have to do is post on the blog rather than do a worksheet. Plus, you can see all the other student's input on the subject, and, if you are confused about what the question is asking, you could figure it out by reading what they put. The netbooks really help in class because instead of sitting at your desk listening, you are looking things up and inputing things into the conversation.
ReplyDeleteI think going paperless is a very good idea. It will give us the oppurtunity to become more technology oriented if we already aren't. The internet is a good way of communicating for example using email or blogs. I like the blogging i think it's an easy way of doing our homework or our opinion of somthing. I overall like the idea of going paperless.
