Back to Bradbury: Response to April Witch
So, here we are (a long way from F451), with another Bradbury short story--
What do you think?
What is Bradbury's theme?
How is this story connected in any way to MSND?
Does this story alter your opinion of Bradbury as a writer? Explain.
This story kind of reminds me of Wizards of Waverly Place, I can see that as an episode. I liked this a lot though, I probably would not have guessed this was by Bradbury it's a lot diffrent then F451. Usually Brabury is more scfi. This connects to MSND because it is about young lovers and I can deffenitly see why they would add this story at the end of MSND.
I thought this story was boring. It just wasn't interesting to me. This story is about a girl who wants to be loved but isn't, whih is just like Helena in MSND. This story makes me think that Bradbury should stick to his stories about dystopian societies.
I didn't like the story, mainly because of the unrealistically of it. The girl wants to be loved, but can't love without consequences of losing her powers. She falls in love and thinks that it would be worth it to be with the boy after becoming a farm girl and going to the dance. The story is like MSND because there is a girl who wants to be loved but isn't by a boy who is pursuing another girl. These characters are like Helena, Demetrius, and Hermia. This story is different from his normal style, and I don't like it as much as his typical style.
I actually liked this a lot. I'm not into Bradbury and his stories so I thought "oh god what am I going to be reading" but it was good. This story is connected to MSND because it's about wanting to be in love, but there is somebody else in the way. This alters my opinion of Bradbury by he can write more than just the future and consequences.
I did not like the story because it was boring compared to Bradbury's other stories. I would never have expected this story to be written by Bradbury. This is connected to MSND becuase it is about a girl who wants to be loved and there are concequinces that follow. My opinion on Bradbury is not altered as a writer because every writer has different stories and there are always going to be some that I like more than others. Personally, I like Bradbury's stories that take place in more futuristic societies with more adventures.
I found this story pretty boring and it just didn't interest me. It is like MSND because it is about a girl that wants to be loved but can't because of consequences of loosing her powers. That is kind of like Helena in MSND because she can't be loved. This doesn't my point of view of Ray Bradbury because all writers can't just write the same type of things all the time. I just prefer Bradbury's futuristic style over this kind of story.
I only thought the story was interesting because it was in a different direction than all of Bradbury's other stories. However, the concept did not really thrill me because it just seemed like one girl was talking to herself the whole time. This is connected to MSND because it is basically about young love and its difficulties, like the ones Helena has. This story just shows me that Bradbury is a very varied writer and can freely change writing genres.
This story was not that interesting to me. Ray Bradbury showed us a new side of him in this piece creating a love atmosphere. It connects to MSND becauase it talks about love and the difficulties and drama it brings.
I did not like April Witch as much as all the other Bradbury stories. This story definitely altered my view of Bradbury as a writer. It didn't have a futuristic twist like his other stories, yet it connected to MSND because of how love is irresistable and contagious.
I liked April Witch, but not as much as Ray Bradburry's other stories. His style was very different in this story. It connected to MSND because it has to do with love and a girl who will do anything to experience it.
I thought that April Witch was a very different type of writing by Ray Bradbury. It was much different because it wasn't about the end of the world or a post apocolyptic era. I also thought that it tied in very well with the story MSND.
I liked this story bt Ray Bradbury, it is because this is not a usual Bradbury futuristic and technological story. I feel that Bradbury's theme of this story is that powers can be used for people's personal gain and wishes. Another possible theme i was thinking of was don't let love control you and don't let it get the best of you just because you wish for something. This is related to MSND because in MSND, there is a lot of mystical and enchanting magic/spells that are being used for there own gain and their own reasonings. This story does alter my opinion of Ray Bradbury as a writer/author, it just shows that he can switch things up and still establish a good writing piece about powers rather than futuristic means.
I think that the theme of the story is that you shouldnt rush love, you should let love find you. After reading everyones responses I really agree with Shannon that the story reminds me of Wizards of Waverly Place. The way the girl has powers reminds me of Alex Russo, the main Wizard in the t.v show.
I did not like April Witch because it just didnt appeal to me, it just wasnt really interesting and never caught me attention. It is like MSND because it is about a girl who is loved but the man is not loved back. It is opposite in MSND because the girl loves the guy, but from Cecy's point of view is is the same circumstances as MSND. This in unlike Bradbury's style because he is usually all about the future and things completely different from reality, but this story was closer to reality, other than the superpowers od Cecy.
I did enjoy this short story April Witch by Ray Bradbury. I liked this becasue it shows me that sometimes people will go a long way to try and expierence love. Although it was boring at parts and is not very realistic with somebody taking control of another persons body, the plot was very good. I think this strory would have been much better if Cecy didn't have any sort of super powers.
I liked April Witch. It was written much differently from F451, and it made me think of Ray Bradbury differently as a writer. He writes in many different styles, as we have seen from F451, There Will Come Soft Rain, The Veldt, and Dandelion Wine. In this story, I think his theme is that love can be found in places you would least expect it.
I think that this is related to MSNd becasue it is all about faries and super natural beings and love being messed up. I think the theme is dont rush to be in love with someone who isnt in love with you too. Also just dont try to love someone thgrough someone elce cause everyone is different and may see people way differently than you do. I dont like how short this story if. It feels to me that its only a chapter out of a book and i hate storys like that. This changes my opinion of Bradbury becasue i think he is capable of writing bad storys now becasue this story isnt even a compleat thought.
I thought the story april witch was a pretty good. It wasn't futuristic like ray bradburys other stories. It was connected to MSND because it was about wanted to be in love and be loved back.
