DI as Do Now: What do YOU think?

So, I went to Maine this weekend to make a presentation to the New England Association of Teachers of English [NEATE] about teaching teachers to teach students how to read Nonfiction. Do you know what they thought was the very best part? The Daily Infographic as Do Now!

Now, these teachers from across NE want to know what you think before they try it with their students. Would you please answer each question in your comments and label them 1,2,and 3. IDK and IDC are OK answers if that is how you feel.

1. Do you like the DI as a Do Now?
2. If you could change anything about the worksheet, what would you change and why?
3. Do you think you have learned something about reading or infographics or is it just something to do?

Of course, they would like you to explain anything you think they need to know, especially if you have something not covered in their questions.

I would like to know because next month, I am going to give this presentation in New Hampshire to teachers and I want to give them the best version I can, and I know your feedback will help me out as well as help the teachers and most inmportantly, help their students.

P.S. The teachers were from: Amherst, Wachusett,Wareham and Cambridge, MA; Merrimac, and Portsmouth, NH; Burlington, VT; Hartford, CT; and Providence, RI.

  1. 1. I do like the daily infographic as the Do Now. The information that the daily infographic has on it can be very interesting considering what intrests you.
    2. If I could change the anything on the worksheet is to take away the "list 2 questions" part. I don't think its necessary that we have to come up with two questions about the infographic. What if we don't have any questions?
    3. I think that I have learned a lot about reading the daily infographic.

  4. 1)I like the daily infographic because the information is very interesting. It gives information about everyday things.
2)If I could change anything on the worksheet, I would change the part that tells you to ask questions. That part is not necessary because the questions are not answered.
3)I learn something interesting everyday when we do the infographic. I love doing them because its never boring.
